AutoBoxes and AutoRules are activated on a column basis under the Setup dialog. They can be used to generate straddled text and rules (Straddle Mode ) or columnar style tables (Table Mode). AutoBox works in conjunction with text that is preceded by a precedent code and one or two digits that specifies the number of columns to straddle. If no precedent code is used then the straddle is set to a single column.
Straddle Mode. This mode allows for setting straddle text and straddle rules automatically. To enter this mode, select Setup from the Tab palette and check AutoBox in each column that a straddle text starts or a straddle rule starts. For straddle rules set AutoHoriz in the column where the rule is to start. Select the AutoBox dialog box and set Initial Depth to 0. Setting the Initial Depth to 0 sets AutoBox and AutoHoriz to the Straddle mode. See example under Straddles and Rules section of the documentation.
Table Mode. This mode allows for setting columnar text and horizontal and vertical rules around the text. To enter this mode, select Set... from the Tab palette and check AutoBox in each column that it is desired to set columnar text and AutoHoriz and AutoVert for each column that it is desired to set AutoRules. Select AutoBox... and set the Initial Depth to any multiple of the text leading. See examples under Straddles and Rules section of Help.
